Phyllis J. Cummins

Phyllis June (Fodor) Cummins, of Carrier Mills, passed peacefully at her residence on Saturday, June 14, 2025. She was 87 years old.

Phyllis was born to John and Hazel (Hanna) Fodor of Ledford, IL on June 19, 1937.

She graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1955.

On April 5, 1969, she married Robert (Bob) Cummins, who preceded her in death on January 5, 1994.

Throughout her life she worked at many accounting offices before retiring 30 years ago.

Phyllis loved with a passion. She always prioritized others before herself. She never wanted the spotlight, but was the heart of her family. Many spoke louder and longer than she did, but rare was one who spoke wiser. She never wasted her time focusing on the negative, always giving people the benefit of the doubt. She was a strong matriarch who stood for compassion, inclusion, and love for the underdog. Her enthusiasm for reading and reality TV was unmatched.

In addition to her husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and first son, John Cummins of Carrier Mills.

She is survived by her sister Connie Richerson, brother Don (Marilyn) Fodor, both of Carrier Mills, son Paul Cummins of Harrisburg, daughter in law Angie Cummins and grandsons Braden and Eli Cummins of Carrier Mills. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces/nephews, all whom she cherished greatly.

Services will be held Thursday June 19, 2025 at 12 noon at Felty Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10 am until service time. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills, IL. Memorials may be made to Friends of Saline County Animsls.
