Paul James Griner, 81, of Goreville, IL passed away at 7:15 am on Tuesday May 27, 2025 at Marion VA Medical Center in Marion, IL. His wishes were to be cremated. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 1 PM at Drake Cemetery in Creal Springs, IL with Military rites by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legion Posts and the US Navy Ritual Team.

There will be no visitation, all family and friends should go directly to the cemetery. Reverend Steve Dunn will officiate. Felty Funeral Home of Carrier Mills, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.

Paul was born on May 27, 1944 in Burton upon Trent, England to the late Wiley and Barbara (Manning) Griner.

He married the former Glenda Phillips on April 30, 1970 and she survives.

Paul was a veteran and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After his time in the military, he went on work as an electrician at the Puget Sound Naval base. He was a very active bowler in his younger years, and enjoyed bowling with his parents and wife. He was a member of the VFW and loved to fish in his free time. Though most of all he loved to spend time with his family and play board games like monopoly or card games such as pinochle.

He is survived by his wife: Glenda Phillips of Goreville, IL; daughter: Christine (Kerry) Robertson of Vienna, IL; son: Jason (Lynsey) Griner of New Burnside, IL; 3 grandchildren: Ashley Robertson, Brandon Griner and Ashlyn Griner, and several great-grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents: Wiley and Barbara Griner; sister: Laura Lykken, and grandchild: Kevin Griner.
