Marcia Jean Chalfant, 100, of Carrier Mills, IL died Friday October 30, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Carbondale Memorial Hospital. Her wishes were to be cremated, there are no services scheduled at this time.  Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL is assisting the family with the details.

Marcia was born on July 16, 1926 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Ira and Beulah (Bileau) Walton.

She married Harry Wade Chalfant and he preceded in death on October 7, 2017.

She worked many jobs during her amazing lifetime, early on in her life she was an actual Rosie the Riveter working at the factories during World War II, later on she worked at Woolworth and was also a type setter for a printing company, later in life she worked as a school lunch lady in Great Falls, Montana for many years.

Marcia was a member of the First Christian Church in Sheridan, WY and her spare time she like to tend to her gardening.

She is survived by her daughter: Cynthia (Tim) York of Marion, IL; 4 grandchildren: Carly (Michael) Lee of Morrisville, NC; Natalie Ebertz of Bloomington, IN; Geoff Chalfant of Virginia Beach, VA; and Caitlyn Chalfant of Fairfax Station, VA; 3 great grandchildren: Preston Lee, Owen Lee and Elliott Lee.

She is preceded in death by her parent, husband and son: Gregory Chalfant.
