Jeremy Norris

Jeremy Todd Norris, Williamson County Fire Protection District Chief, 55, of Marion, passed away at 2:03 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born on January 10, 1970 in Harrisburg, IL to Jerry and Yvonne Norris, Jeremy was the beloved husband of Allie (Hunt) Norris, whom he married on September 11, 1993. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter.

Jeremy is survived by his loving wife Allie; his parents, Jerry and Yvonne Norris of Marion; his sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Gary Turner of Marion; and his special niece, Jordan Turner of Marion, Sister-in-law, Brenda Pegg of Ripley, TN, niece Amber Womack and her husband Jason, and their children, Hannah and Hunter of Ripley, TN.

He was preceded in death by Father and Mother-in-law John and Mary Catherine Hunt, Maternal grandparents Curtis and Kathryn Black, Paternal grandparents Clyde and Virginia Norris and Brother-in Law Ricky Pegg,

A dedicated public servant, Jeremy joined the newly formed Williamson County Fire Protection District (WCFPD) as a volunteer in 1990. His passion for firefighting and commitment to service enabled him to excel in training, leading to his rise through the ranks. He became the Assistant Chief of Station 3 (Crab Orchard) before being appointed as the District’s first Deputy Chief in 2005. In 2010, Jeremy was appointed Chief of the district, a role in which he oversaw significant growth and improvements, including the financing, design, and construction of the new Station 1—the first newly constructed facility since the district’s inception.

Under Jeremy's leadership, the WCFPD achieved new heights in service quality, driven by his commitment to excellence and the welfare of the community.

Jeremy’s legacy of dedication, service, and love will forever be cherished by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Coal Bank Springs Cemetery, envelopes will be available.

Funeral services will be held at the Williamson County Fire Station #1, located at 1505 E Main St, Marion, IL on Saturday March 29, 2025 at 12 noon. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 8 pm at the fire station and on Saturday from 10 am until service time. Reverend Rob Ray will officiate. Burial will be at Coal Bank Springs Cemetery near Dykersburg, IL. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL will be assisting with the services.
