Jamie Lynn Richey

April 24, 1979 — September 20, 2025

Carrier Mills

Jamie Lynn Richey (née Deems), of Carrier Mills, Illinois, passed away on Saturday September 20, 2025. She was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend whose warmth, humor, and fierce love touched all who knew her.

Jamie’s life was defined by kindness and a boundless spirit of generosity. She loved without reservation and stood steadfastly in defense of those she cared for—especially those who could not defend themselves. Friends and family alike knew her as someone who could be counted on in times of need, someone who gave freely of her heart, and someone who made ordinary days feel brighter.

She shared a marriage filled with deep companionship and laughter with her husband, Chad Richey. Their years together were marked by devotion, small joys, shared adventures, and a love that was both grounding and inspiring. Jamie was Chad’s constant encourager and anchor. Whether in quiet mornings together, late-night talks, or working side by side in the garden, her presence brought comfort and joy. She believed in him when he struggled to believe in himself, and her love made life immeasurably richer.

Jamie found joy in life’s simple pleasures—tending to plants, spending time with her pets, sharing meals, and making a home that reflected warmth and welcome. She had a quick wit, a ready laugh, and a way of noticing the needs of others before they spoke them aloud. To know Jamie was to feel seen, loved, and understood.

Jamie is survived by her mother, Irene (Terry) Redenbaugh of Sparks, Nevada; and her stepfather, Robert “Bob” Orr of Sparks, Nevada, who lovingly raised her. She is also survived by her brothers, Justin Redenbaugh of Sparks and Brent Deems of Nevada; her mother-in-law, Darla (Ron) Risinger of Carrier Mills; father-in-law, Michael (Debbi) Richey of Harrisburg; brother-in-law, Andrew (Ashley) Overstreet of Harrisburg; and sister-in-law, Beth (Mike) Kidd of Carrier Mills.

Her extended family includes uncles Steve LaForge, Jerry LaForge, and Mike Deems; aunts Mary Elquist (LaForge), Sherry Crisman (LaForge), and Vivian White (Deems). She was a beloved aunt to Hannah Ellison, Bailey Deems, Khloe Kidd, Kinley Kidd, Kennedy Overstreet, James Flores, and Keegan Kidd, and a loving godmother to Sophianna McCart and Jackson McCart. She also leaves behind numerous cousins, countless friends, and chosen family, all of whom she loved deeply and unconditionally.

Jamie will be remembered for her compassion, her unwavering loyalty, her humor, and her ability to see and nurture the best in others. To be loved by her was to be truly known and fiercely protected.
