Lawrence “Doc” Schutt, 77, 414 North Thompson Street, Carrier Mills, IL died Friday January 16, 2015 at 12:09 pm at Herrin Hospital. At his request, cremation has been accorded. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL has been entrusted with the arrangements. He was born in Hickstown, (Hardin County) Illinois on November 7, 1937 to the late Clyde and Molly (Baldwin) Schutt. He was a retired coal miner. He loved all sports and was superb at the art of barbequing. Doc made and bottled his own barbeque sauce for many years before passing it down to his grandson. He was also a member of the Carrier Mills Sons of the American Legion. He is survived by 3 Children: Lonnie (Nita) Schutt of Harrisburg, IL; Tony (Amy) Schutt of Carrier Mills, IL; Chris (Tony) Pickering of Carrier Mills, IL; 5 Grandchildren: Tayler Owens of Creal Springs, IL; Paige Schutt, Kane Schutt, Brianna Pickering, and Abbie Pickering all of Carrier Mills, IL; 2 Great Grandchildren: Andelyn Owens and Cooper Owens both of Creal Springs, IL. 3 Brothers: J. C. Schutt of Hickstown, IL; A.D. Schutt of Benton, IL; and Bob Schutt of Rosiclare, IL; and Sister: Ruby Crabb of Harrisburg, IL. He was preceded in death by 2 Sisters: Mary Vinyard and Faye Harrison; and Brother: John Schutt.
