William J. Crittendon

William J. Crittendon, 81, of 409 East Walnut Street, Carrier Mills, IL; died Tuesday November, 20, 2012 at 11:34 pm, at Harrisburg Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held Saturday November 24, 2012 at 11 am at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Saturday after 9 am until service time. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Carrier Mills, IL with Military rites performed by the Carrier Mills American Legion, Harrisburg American Legion and the Army National Guard Ritual Team. Reverend Ownly Williams will officiate. He was born on September 23, 1931 in Dresden, TN to the late Arlander Vincent and Ezealer Crittendon. He married the former Iva M. Winston on August 24, 1952 whom survives. He retired from the United States Army after 35 years of services attaining the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He also was a member and trustee of Carrier Mills Baber Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church. He is survived by his Wife: Iva M. Crittendon of Carrier Mills, IL; Son: William A. (Linda) Crittendon of Harrisburg, IL; 2 Grandchildren: Garrett (Twila) Crittendon of Eldorado, IL and Malory B. Crittendon of Harrisburg, IL; 2 Great Grandchildren: Zander Crittendon of Eldorado, IL and Aniyah Crittendon of Harrisburg, IL; 2 Step-grandchildren: Amber Gooch of Marion, IL and Tashy Isbell of Carrier Mills, IL; 8 Step-great grandchildren: Jasmine Garrett, Dante Gooch, Gabriel Gooch and Abigayle Gooch all of Marion, IL; Austyn Isbell, Zhayne Isbell and Sydney Isbell all of Carrier Mills, IL and Jonathon Meriedith; Nieces: Demita Barbine, Kesha Crittendon and Faith Crittendon; Great nephews: Layton Crittendon and Jake Stewart; Special Friends: Lisa Stabler, Roger and Fran Tuttle; and many other cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and Brother: Joe E. Crittendon.
